  • There are plenty of countries that would love to invade the US. Here is a short list: North Korea, Japan, Iran....oh almost forgot every terrorist network in the world. The US is still the US for now at least. We will see how much damage Obama can do and then we'll see.

  • Ihat8bob.....are you saying that Bush caused the 9/11 attacks. It was actually Clinton that ignored the warning signs that led to 9/11. The wars in Iraq and afghanistan are very necessary. We are keeping the fight over there.

  • sdot....Normally I would be saying the same thing as you...I am a soldier and I have been in for a long time now....I never complained about Clinton, even though he downsized the military and did some things that I did not support, I never complained about bush even though he chose to do some things …

  • shannon...ok there are just so many people that believe that there is no need for another ship, or another weapon. These are the people that don't understand that the cost of freedom is paid by a soldiers blood. Sorry for jumping to conclusions.

  • I think this ship is the perfect tribute. It shows that we will never forget...even though I think you have already forgotten. It shows we will fight back even though it appears that you are not willing to.

  • a 21 gun salute is a great tribute. I was able to be at the USS Constitution during a 21 gun salute. They fired seven guns a total of 3 times each. It was for the MIT graduation ceremonies. Very impressive. 21 gun salutes are also given during military funerals.

  • TIDubai.....The reason we are all over the world is a show of force. It is to hold our enemies at bay. And when they do attack we can respond quicker to the conflict because we have troops on the ground already

  • look I'm not calling for martial law. I do not want this nation to be run by the military. I do believe that we need a happy medium. We need enough troops, weapons, ships, vehicles to wage war on those that would harm us.
